Who really invented peanut butter? According to the historians it was the Ancient Aztecs, but peanut butter as we know it today was invented by a Canadian in 1884, Marcellus who experimented with crushing peanuts, to make a paste but it wasn't until 1895 when Dr J Harvey Kelloggs (of Kelloggs cereal) made peanut butter paste, he roasted the nuts, and peanut butter was born.
We love these Kiks and they are very easy to make!
50g light brown sugar
50g caster sugar
50g butter
100g plain flour
1 egg
1 tsp honey
1 tsp vanilla essence
1/2 tsp salt
200g crunchy peanut butter
Mix the sugars and flour together with the salt in a bowl. Using a mixer, mix the butter, honey, egg and vanilla essence until fully combined.
Add the dry ingredients, and mix. Once this is done, add the peanut butter and stir with a spoon so the mixer doesn't crush the peanuts.
The mixture should be thick and stuff. Weigh out 30 g balls and space on a lined baking tray. Bake in an oven for 10 minutes. When they come out they will be very crumbly so leave on the tray for 10 minutes to cool, then transfer to a rack.
